Butterfly valve development history
Butterfly valve is a disc type opening and closing parts reciprocating around 90° to open, close or adjust the medium flow of a valve. Butterfly valve is not only simple structure, small volume, light weight, material consumption, small installation size, small driving torque, simple operation, rapid, and can also have a good flow regulation function and closed sealing characteristics, is one of the fastest growing valve varieties in recent ten years. Butterfly valves are widely used. The variety and quantity of its use are still continuing to expand, and to high temperature, high pressure, large caliber, high sealing, long life, excellent regulating characteristics, as well as a multi-function valve development. Its reliability and other performance indexes have reached a high level.
With the application of synthetic rubber against chemical corrosion, the performance of butterfly valves has been improved. Because synthetic rubber has the characteristics of corrosion resistance, erosion resistance, size stability, good resilience, easy to form, low cost and so on, and can be selected according to different requirements of different performance of synthetic rubber, to meet the butterfly valve operating conditions.
Because polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) has strong corrosion resistance, stable performance, not easy to aging, low coefficient of friction, easy to form, stable size, and can be filled by adding appropriate materials to improve its comprehensive performance, get better strength, lower coefficient of friction butterfly valve sealing material, overcome the limitations of synthetic rubber, Therefore, the polymer materials represented by PTFE and its filling modified materials have been widely used in the butterfly valve, so that the performance of the butterfly valve has been further improved, and the butterfly valve has a wider range of temperature and pressure, reliable sealing performance and longer service life.
In order to meet the requirements of high and low temperature, strong erosion, long life and other industrial applications, metal seal butterfly valve has been a great development. With the application of high temperature resistance, low temperature resistance, strong corrosion resistance, strong erosion resistance and high strength alloy materials in the butterfly valve, the metal seal butterfly valve has been widely used in high and low temperature, strong erosion, long life and other industrial fields. There are butterfly valves with large diameter (9~750mm), high pressure (42.0MPa) and wide temperature range (-196~606℃). So that the butterfly valve technology to a whole new level.
Butterfly valve has small flow resistance when fully opened. When opened in about 15°~70°, and sensitive flow control, so in the field of large caliber regulation, the application of butterfly valve is very common.
Because the butterfly valve butterfly plate movement with wipe, so most of the butterfly valve can be used for medium with suspended solid particles. Depending on the strength of the seal, it can also be used in powder and granular media.
Butterfly valves are suitable for flow regulation. Butterfly valve structure length and overall height is small, open and close faster, and has good fluid control characteristics. Butterfly valve structure principle is most suitable for the production of large diameter valve. When the butterfly valve is required to control the flow, the most important thing is to correctly choose the specification and type of butterfly valve, so that it can work properly and effectively.
Generally, in throttling, regulating control and mud media, the requirements of short structure length, fast opening and closing speed, low pressure cutoff (small pressure difference), recommended butterfly valve. In the double position regulation, reduced diameter channel, low noise, cavitation and vaporization phenomenon, a small amount of leakage to the atmosphere, with abrasive medium, can choose butterfly valve. Throttle adjustment under special working conditions, or strict sealing, serious wear, low temperature (cryogenic) conditions.
